Freeport LNG to Shut for One Month After Winter Storm Issues

LNG

Freeport LNG expects one of its three liquefaction units at the export facility to be out of service for one month after it had faced technical issues during the winter storm Heather earlier this month according to Reuters, citing a company spokesperson.

  • "One of our refrigeration electric motors at our liquefaction facility experienced an electrical issue that will necessitate a replacement of the motor with an on-hand spare," a company spokesperson said.
  • The headline reporting about the one-month shut down significantly weighed on US Henry Hub prices. TTF prices briefly surged before easing back slightly indicating European supplies are expected to be sufficient despite the outage.
  • US Natgas FEB 24 down -4.1% at 2.47$/mmbtu
  • TTF FEB 24 up 2% at 28.35€/MWh
