Freeport Restart Pushed to Feb: Reuters Sources

The restart of the Freeport LNG terminal is expected to further extend until February according to three Reuters sources as it awaits regulatory approvals.

  • "There has been no official messaging, but nobody expects any cargoes until end-February at the earliest," one of the sources said.
  • "Second half of January is now out of sight," another source said.
  • A freeport spokesperson told Reuters that the second half of January timeline still stands.
  • The facility has been closed since a June 8 fire.
  • The US is the top supplier of LNG for Europe but a lack of Freeport flows have been mitigated by a mild start to winter for Europe.
