French Strike Update – EdF Cuts Nuclear, Hydropower Output

France’s EdF has curtailed nuclear output by around 1GW and hydropower generation by 280MW, remit data showed.

  • Output at the 1.335GW St Alban reactor has been reduced by 145MW until Thursday afternoon. Generation has also been curtailed by 860MW at the 1.31GW Belleveille 1 reactor until this afternoon.
  • Overnight, output at Flamanville 1, St Alban 1and Dampierre 2 had been reduced.
  • EdF reported 280MW of hydropower generation capacity is currently unavailable due to strikes. It reported earlier 150MW are unavailable.
  • Separately, EdF said France’s Maurienne valley has been flooded which is curtailing power generation capacity at these plants: Combe d'Avrieux (up to 123MW), Cheylas(up to 485MW), Hermillon (up to 116MW), Super Bissorte (up to 742MW), Saussaz(150MW), Villarodin (up to 364MW).
