French Week-Ahead Power Climbs

The French week-ahead power base-load contract is trading higher today, supported by forecasts for low wind and the outage at the 1.33GW Paluel 3 nuclear reactor after a fire on the main transformer.

    • France Base Power Week 2 up 3.39% at 30.50 EUR/MWh
  • French utility EdF will stop production at its 1.33GW Paluel 3 nuclear until 30 June due to fire that occurred on the main power transformer of the unit early this morning, according to EdF.
  • Nuclear reactor availability stood at 71% of capacity as of this morning, down from 75% on Monday morning, RTE data, cited by Bloomberg showed.
  • French nuclear generation stood at an average of 36.3GW today as of the time of writing, above the five-year average of 34.83GW.
  • France: Wind for 29 May- 4 June: 7.05GW (unchanged), 5.65GW (+105MW), 6.64GW (unchanged), 7.63GW (+172MW), 6.40GW (+1.28GW), 4.52GW (unchanged), 3.13GW (unchanged), according to Spot Renewables.
  • France: Solar for 29 May- 4 June: 2.72GW (unchanged), 2.68GW (unchanged), 3.42GW (unchanged), 3.31GW (unchanged), 3.21GW (unchanged), 3.32GW (unchanged), 3.51GW (unchanged).
