UK PRESS: From Steven Swinford at The Times: "Looks like a compromise is in the

offing over General Election. Govt is tabling it's one-line bill with stating

that an election will be held on December 12th. But it is open to an amendment

stating that it should be held on December 11th. Will the Lib Dems and SNP

bite?"

- While political point scoring will continue over whose bill passes and what

date the election could be called on, the impact of whether it is the 9, 10, 11,

or 12 Dec is likely to be relatively limited.

- Despite calls by independent former Conservatives and One Nation Conservatives

to bring back the Withdrawal Agreement Bill (WAB) before an election, this is

very unlikely now. 

- Johnson wants election to exploit Labour dip in polling, while Lib Dems and

SNP want election before Brexit to capitalise on Remain vote.
