Further inflaming bilateral tensions over Brexit, the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland, Brandon Lewis, earlier stated that the UK government would 'break international law' as it seeks to pass legislation which would undermine part of the Withdrawal Agreement. The latest twist follows the earlier resignation of the head of the government's legal department in protest and warnings from the European Commission that the UK needs to abide by its obligations under international law.
