US TSYS/RESEARCH: /FUNDS: The iMoneyNet's Money Fund Report said U.S.
money-market fund assets "plunged $17.41 billion for the week ended Aug. 29.
Total fund assets settled at $2.681 trillion for the week. Taxable money-fund
assets fell $17.21 billion to $2.551 trillion. Government Institutional fund
assets were down by $18.13 billion."
- It added "prime institutional fund assets bumped up by $319.6 million. Taxable
Retail fund assets also increased by $606.4 million."
- It also said "tax-free fund assets dropped by $206.4 million, lowering their
total to $129.96 billion."
- The survey included 850 taxable and 231 tax-free and municipal money-market
funds reporting this week. iMoneyNet has tracked taxable MMFs since 1975,
tax-free funds since 1981, and non-U.S. money funds since 1999.
