Further COVID Restriction Unwinding Approved As Threat Level Lowered

UK

PM spox confirms that the Cabinet has agreed with the PM that the roadmap of unwinding COVID-19 restrictions in England can continue as planned, with indoor hospitality and visits to other people's homes set to be allowed from 17 May.

  • The unwinding is set to be announced in a press conference by the PM at 1700BST.
  • Comes as the UK's four chief medical officers agreed to lower the threat level posed by the virus from four to three. This means that the epidemic is in general circulation but transmission of the virus is no longer deemed to be high or rising exponentially.
