Futures Steady, Bond Yields Off Earlier Highs

JGBS

At the break, JGB futures sit at 144.49, -.27. We have tracked tight ranges in the first part of Friday trade. There may be some modest upside pressure when markets return, as US futures sit close to session highs in recent dealings (107-19 +02).

  • Still, we remain comfortably within recent ranges. The topside is marked by 144.89, earlier November lows just under 143.50.
  • In a short while the MOF will sell 3 month bills. Next week we get more bond sales in the 5yr space, yesterday's 30yr auction saw a solid pick up in the bid to cover ratio to 3.6 (prior around 3).
  • Cash JGB yields are holding modest gains at this stage, albeit down from earlier highs. The 10yr yield last near 0.855%, against an earlier high near 0.87%. 10yr swap is back near 1.04%, also down a touch from session highs.
