G7 to Discuss Cap on Russian Oil

ENERGY – What to watch

  • The G7 nations are discussing a cap on the price of Russia oil by only allowing the transportation of crude and products sold below an agreed threshold. Not agreement has yet been reached with the meeting ongoing until tomorrow (26th and 28th June).
  • After the delayed release of the EIA weekly petroleum report last week due to system issues, the agency is expected to provide an update later today.
  • Also due today is the Aug22 Brent option expiry against the 19:30BST future close price. Current open interest shows the biggest nearby interest is in the 110$/bbl and 115$/bbl strikes.
