LNG: GAIL Seeks More LNG Deals with Dabhol LNG Breakwater by March

LNG

GAIL India is seeking more LNG import deals, according to the latest earnings call.

  • The company expects to build a breakwater facility at the Dabhol LNG import terminal by March 2025 to become a full weather terminal.
  • The 5mtpa facility currently shuts during every monsoon season to protect from choppy seas, reducing Gail’s effective capacity to just 2.9mtpa.
  • GAIL has entered into a non binding MOU with Argentina’s YPF, as part of a group of three Indian Oil and Gas PSUs, for collaboration in exploration and production of hydrocarbon and critical minerals. Argentina could become a significant source of LNG for India in future.
