Galp Asks to Join Venture Global Complaint

Portugal’s Galp has asked US regulators to allow it to join BP and Shell in a formal complaint against US LNG exporter Venture Global.

  • Shell and BP have asked the Federal Energy Regulator Commission (FERC) to make Venture Global share documents to show why they have not had access to contracted LNG volumes from the Calcasieu Pass Terminal.
  • Venture Global’s Calcasieu Pass facility has been operating for 21 months and sold more than 200 cargoes.
  • It has told Galp, Shell, BP and others it is unable to provide them with term-contract cargoes while the plant is in commissioning. They are seeking the documentation to display it is in commissioning phase.
