OIL PRODUCTS

GasBuddy released its forecast December 31, forecasting a third year of declining gasoline and diesel prices.

  • The 2025 full year US national average for gasoline is projected at $3.22/gallon, down from $3.33/gal in 2024 and well below the 2022 record high.
  • However, the decline comes with uncertainties around geopolitical tensions, potential tariffs and a change in energy policies such as EV adoption.
  • GasBuddy’s Patrick De Haan said “emerging risks could lead to increased volatility. Despite this, expanding global refining capacity and moderating demand are expected to support lower prices for most of the year.
  • Gasoline prices could peak in April at an average of $3.53 as seasonal increases in demand and the phasing in of summer-grade gasoline.
  • Most major US cities are expected to see a peak of around $4.00; UWCS cities like LA Los and San Francisco could experience mid-$5 peaks due to high fuel taxes, unique fuel requirements and other mandates.
