Gazprom Delivers Second LNG Cargo from European Terminal to China

LNG

Russia’s Gazprom delivered its second shipment of LNG to China Nov. 2, according to Reuters, sending the cargo via the Suez Canal.

  • The SCF La Perouse departed Russia’s Portovaya LNG on Sept. 23 and arrived Nov. 2 at the Tangshen LNG zone in Hebei.
  • Such flows to East of Suez demonstrate Russia’s desire to find new outlets for its Western LNG supply as Europe seeks to end its dependence on Russian gas. Most of the previous cargoes had been shipped to Turkey or Greece.
  • Reuters said that a further cargo, the Veliky Novgorod, reloaded at Portovaya Oct. 23 is also headed to the Suez Canal.
  • The first cargo shipped from the Baltic Sea to China by Gazprom went via northern sea route, according to Reuters.
