- Late Friday saw der Spiegel sources suggest that ECB Pres. Draghi plans to
restart QE by Nov (Draghi's term expires at the end of Oct). The sources also
noted that the ECB is considering raising the cost for banks to park their cash
at the Bank in a bid to boost lending. That decision may come in Sep.
- The usual Brexit uncertainty continues to do the rounds, with hardliner Boris
Johnson set to become UK PM later this week, barring a huge upset.
- Italian Deputy PM Salvini failed to call a snap election over the weekend, but
is set to meet with fellow Deputy PM Di Maio on Tuesday in an attempt to avoid
the collapse of the government, according to local press reports.
- Elsewhere in the periphery, Spain's ruling socialist party has received a
boost in terms of its hopes surrounding forming a government after the leader of
the Podemos party said he would no longer demand a ministerial post.
- We also heard that Greece's 2020 budget will fully respect the fiscal targets
agreed with its lenders, according to PM Mitsotakis.
- The docket is light Monday, with Thursday's ECB decision headlining this week.
