German, French Australian Coal Imports Fall in June

Australian coal exports to Germany and France moved down on the month in June to hit the lowest for any month so far this year, while a similar trend was seen on the quarter in Germany, data from Marcura show.

  • Germany imported 88,860t of Australian coal, down from 92,615t in May and 197,000t in January. The country imported no coal over February-April
  • In contrast, France imported 77,000t – dropping sharply from 162,000-241,560t in May and April, respectively.
  • On the quarter, Germany imported 181,475t in 2Q 2024 down from 197,000t in 1Q24.
  • But French Australian imports stood at 480,560t in 2Q compared to 161,000t in the previous.
