German Gas Consumption Increases on Cold Weather

The latest weekly data in Germany shows overall German consumption was just 12.8% below the 2018 to 2021 average after cold weather reached northern Europe.

  • German industrial gas consumption was 12.4% below the 2018-2021 normal and household and businesses now 13.2% below normal according to THE data via Bundesnetzagentur. The gas consumption for power generation is included in the industrial demand data.
  • Temperatures across northern areas of Europe have fallen and are expected to stay below normal throughout most of the two week forecast.
  • German gas storage was at 235.14TWh and 95.53% full according to GIE data for Dec 7.
