German January Gas Demand Stood 6.7% below 2018-21 Average

German natural gas consumption from households, small businesses and industry stood 6.7% below the 2018-2021 average in January, Bnetza data showed.

  • December gas demand stood 12.9% below the average.
  • Natural gas consumption last week stood at 3,150GWh/d and 22.6% below the 2018-2021 average, down by 6.7% on the week, driven by milder weather above normal.
  • German natural gas inventories stood at 73.67% of capacity on 6 Feb, down from 74.69% a week earlier, GIE data showed.
