Germany Investigates Sabotage at Brunsbüttel-Hetlingen LNG Pipeline

Germany is investigating possible sabotage at the 55-kilometer LNG pipeline running from Brunsbüttel to Hetlingen in northern Germany, after several drilled holes were found, the state criminal investigation bureau said, cited by NDR.

  • At least three locations along the pipeline contained 10mm holes, raising serious concern of deliberate damage, it said.
  • The pipeline was scheduled to come online end-2023 but the impact of the damage is still being assessed. The pipeline will be connected to the Brunsbüttel LNG terminal.
