Germany's Scholtz Aims for "Energy Partnership" with Saudi After Weekend Visit

German Chancellor Olaf Scholtz said he wants to deepen energy ties with Saudi Arabia after his Middle East trip over the weekend where he met Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman on Saturday.

• He said the partnership would extend beyond fossil fuels to include hydrogen and renewables.

• Scholtz said he had brought up issues around the murder of Jamal Khashoggi as Germany has to be seen not going soft on human rights issues in its quest for further energy supplies.
