Germany’s Year To Date Russian Crude Imports At 30%

Germany’s crude imports from Russia accounted for almost 30% in the first eight months of this year, but Russian crude imports decreased to 1.67m t in August, amid higher flows from the US according to the latest BAFA data.

  • Russian crude oil imports in August were at the lowest level since May 2019, while total imports were up 0.6% year on year to 7.07m t.
  • US imports have increased for the sixth consecutive month to 1.16mn t, compared with 1.12mn t a year earlier.
  • Total German crude oil import volumes increased 11.4% year on year for the January-August period to 57.9mn t.
