GILT SUMMARY: Gilts have opened on the soft side, weighed by 10-yr Tsy note
moving back above the 3.00 level, but remain underpinned by sell-off in
equities. 2-yr is holding steady for now, so curve is modestly steeper, while
the FTSE is 0.32% lower. UK 10-yr yield is 1.2bp higher at 1.552% according to
Tradeweb.
- No data scheduled from the UK Wednesday, however Brexit secretary David Davis
speaks at a select committee today and is likely to give updates on latest
negotiations with the EU.
- While pressure continues to build on PM May on keep the UK in the customs
union. A debate will be held in the House of Commons tomorrow, but any vote will
not be binding on the government.
- Both breakevens and swap spreads are marginally wider so far today.
