GILTS
GILTS: Gilts have opened Wednesday modestly higher with yield curve seen
shifting higher by around 0.6bp as markets trade with a slightly return to a
risk-on tone overnight. 10-yr Gilt yield is +0.7bp at 1.287%.
- Main event today in the UK will be the vote in the House of Commons on the
last remaining amendment to the EU Withdrawal Bill that would allow MPs to have
a 'meaningful vote' on the final Brexit deal.
- PM May has been reported as saying that she will not back down over the vote
as she told them they will be handing a victory to Brussels if they inflict a
damaging defeat on the Government. The vote is expected later this afternoon
after it has been debated for a couple of hours
- Markets will also be keeping an eye on comments coming out of the OPEC meeting
in Vienna and the impact this will have on the oil price.
- BoE MPC monetary policy decision is tomorrow with markets not expecting any
changes but looking out for any hints in the statement that a rate rise could
come as early as August.
