Global Air Passenger Capacity Rises 0.75% on Week: OAG

Global air passenger capacity is expected to rise by 0.75% on the week to 106.635m seats for the seven days commencing March 18, OAG said.

  • The actual total seat capacity trails the forward schedule estimate from March. 11 of 107.65m seats.
  • Domestic capacity continued its rise from the previous week to climb 0.69% to 64.981m seats. It lagged the forward schedule estimate by around 870k seats,
  • International capacity reversed all its losses the previous week to climb by 0.83% to 41.654m seats.
  • For the week commencing March 25, the forward schedule puts total global capacity up to 108.578m seats with 65.773m domestic seats and 42.804m international route seats.
  • The Easter holidays in much of Europe and the Americas are likely to be a supportive factor in upward seat capacity for the remainder of March.
  • The largest international country pairs remain USA-Mexico and Spain-UK at 4.8m and 3.4m seats respectively.
