Global Air Passenger Capacity Rises on China Golden Week: OAG

Global airline capacity expected to rise by 0.6% on the week to 112.3m seats in the week commencing Sep. 25, driven by the upcoming Golden Week holidays, according to OAG.

  • Golden week starts this year on Sep. 29 and includes 8 days of national holidays. Carriers
  • Excluding Golden Week, the trend for underlying global capacity remains consistent, with capacity outside of North Asia at a similar level to the previous week.
  • Apart from Northeast Asian domestic capacity, where carriers in China have increased seats by 784,000, only Europe is seeing significant capacity change, down 110,000 seats following seasonal trends.
  • Total global capacity remains 0.9% below the same period in 2019.
