Global Air Passenger Capacity Rises on Week: OAG

Global airline passenger capacity rose 0.3% on the week to 103.1m seats in the seven days commencing Nov. 27, according to OAG.

  • This puts current airline passenger capacity at 3.1% below the same pre-pandemic period in 2019.
  • The full year forecast for 2023 total global passenger capacity is 5.5 billion seats, 3.6% below 2019, but 17.3% above 2022.
  • The largest change came from rising domestic capacity in Southeast Asia, which rose by 55k seats on the week.
  • Domestic capacity in Northeast Asia was also up by 46k seats, or 0.2% on the week, putting it 4.8% above 2019 levels.
  • North America has seen a return in passenger capacity, following the end of the Thanksgiving Holiday, up 0.4% on the week.
