Global Airline Passenger Capacity Falls 0.17% on Week: OAG

Global airline passenger capacity is set to decline to 122.63m seats in the seven days commencing from Aug. 12, OAG said.

  • This represents a slight fall of 0.17% on the previous week.
  • This week's actual capacity lags the previous forward schedule's estimate by 0.13m seats.
  • Domestic capacity is down 0.04% on the week to 71.29m seats.
  • Meanwhile, international capacity is down 0.35% on the week to 51.34m seats.
  • Capacity is starting to fall as the Northern Hemisphere’s summer travel season peaks and airlines wind down some seasonal routes.
  • This is the second successive weak of capacity declines.
