Global Airline Passenger Capacity Rises 1.52% on Week: OAG

Global airline passenger capacity is set to rise to 118.06m seats in the seven days commencing from June 17, OAG said.

  • This is a rise of 1.52% on the previous week. The net increase of 1.77m seats is the largest since the week beginning Feb. 12.
  • The rise continues to lag with last week’s forward schedule by 0.63%, which expected total capacity to hit 118.81m seats.
  • Domestic capacity is up 1.76% on the week at 68.80m seats.
  • Meanwhile, international capacity has risen by 1.18% to 49.26 seats. International capacity has risen every week since March 11.
  • Total passenger capacity is expected to hit 509.51m seats in June, up around 6.6% on the previous year.
  • The only region whose capacity is set to decline this month is Lower South America, falling by 2.5% year-on-year.
  • Western Europe, North America, and East Asia are all seeing growth above 6m seats on the year.
