STOCKS
STOCKS: Global equity markets trade mixed, weighing up the prospects of a slowly
re-opening U.S. economy, potential turning points in several COVID-19 hotspots
across the globe, looser Chinese fiscal policy and movement towards additional
small business loans in the U.S., against lower oil prices (although matters
there are a little more intricate, see previous oil bullet for details),
conflict between U.S. President Trump & state governors, worries re: Hong Kong
politics & Sino-U.S. COVID-19 sabre-rattling. On top of all of that, U.S.
earnings season continues.
- That leaves U.S. equity index futures marginally mixed, and the major regional
Asia-Pac indices mostly lower.
- S&P 500 futures unch., DJIA -21, NASDAQ 100 futures +7.
- Nikkei 225 -0.9%, Hang Seng +0.2%, CSI 300 -2.3%, ASX 200 -1.2%
