Global Jet Fuel Demand Softening After Travel Peak: BNEF

Global Passenger jet fuel demand is set to fall 0.7% to 7.15m b/d in the week commencing Aug. 13, as the summer travel season passes, BNEF said.

  • Asia and Eastern Europe are the only regions bucking the trend, up 4.9k b/d and 1.1k b/d respectively.
  • Scheduled domestic flights in China will rise 0.2% for the week beginning Aug. 20, slightly below the 0.3% increase this week.
  • International flights from Chinese carriers are poised to fall 0.4% to 4,440 in the week from Aug. 13 and stay at that level in the week to Aug. 20.
  • Global jet fuel demand from domestic flights is seen at 2.71m b/d, down 1.1% on the week.
  • Meanwhile, global jet fuel demand from international fights is seen down 0.5% on the week to 4.44m b/d.
  • The largest overall percentage fall in demand is in North America, down 2.3% on the week to 1.77m b/d.
