LNG: Global LNG Exports Fell in Week to Jan. 19: BNEF
LNG
Global LNG exports fell 0.26m tons (-3%) w/w to 8.05m tons in the week to Jan. 19 despite rising US output, according to BloombergNEF and ahead of the drop in US feedgas in recent days due to cold weather.
- A 0.11m ton (-17%) decline in Malaysian LNG output last week underpinned slightly softer global flows, while LNG exports in the Middle East and Russia also softened (-10% and -8% w/w respectively).
- Meanwhile, US LNG output rose by 0.45m tons (24%) w/w, supported by the ramp-up of the Plaquemines LNG facility.
- Plaquemines LNG terminal loaded its fourth ever cargo, while the facility’s feedgas rose as high as 1.2 Bcf/d for the first time on Jan. 18, indicating more modular units coming onstream and taking in gas for liquefaction.
- Global LNG supply is projected to grow by 5%, or about 18.6m tons, this year, according to the IEA. Gains are expected to be led by North America, with the start-up/ramp-up of various facilities including LNG Canada, Plaquemines Ph.1, Corpus Christi Stage 3 and Altamira FLNG.
