LNG: Global LNG Exports Set to Rise Just 0.4% y/y in 2024

Global LNG exports are set to rise 0.4% y/y to 414m tons this year, according to Kpler data cited by Bloomberg.

  • Limited growth in new supply has contributed to market susceptibility to price spikes in both Europe and Asia.  
  • The slowest pace of growth since 2015 amid delays to US projects and sanctions against Russia is supporting prices.
  • US exports were approximately unchanged on the year at 87m tons in 2024.
  • New exports from the US, Canada are set to boost supplies in 2025 before a new wave of global supply expected from 2026. Venture Global LNG’s Plaquemines facility exported its first shipment last week, and Cheniere Energy’s Corpus Christi plant began production from the first train yesterday.
