Global Weekly LNG Imports Edged Higher Last Week

Global weekly LNG imports increased by 2% to 8.5mn tons during 29 January and 5 February amid higher shipments into Japan and South Korea according to BNEF.

  • Shipments into JKCT rose by 0.37mn tons to 4.95mn tons.
  • Japanese imports rose to 1.67mn tons last week, up from 1.31mn tons the week prior. Shipments into South Korea rose by 0.34mn tons to 1.34mn tons. China imports dipped by 0.17mn tons to 1.60mn tons last week.
  • Imports into NW Europe and Italy edged lower by 0.14mn tons to 1.31mn tons.
  • Global weekly LNG supply increased by 7% to 8.7mn tons, amid a recovery in US output.
  • LNG exports out of the US rose to 2.15mn tons, up from 1.94mn tons, as the outage at the Freeport terminal does not appear to hamper exports yet.
