POLAND
  • The largest group of respondents (39.3%) in a Rzeczpospolita/IBRIS poll said that the appointment of ruling Law and Justice party's leader Jaroslaw Kaczynski to the position of Deputy Prime Minister will not affect the result of the upcoming parliamentary election. Another 30.9% said that the move will lower the party's chance for victory, while only 24% believed that Kaczynski's return to Cabinet would help his party win.
  • Deputy Finance Minister Artur Sobon told DGP that the government has "a whole series of tax change ideas which could be presented and, if possible, advanced by the end of this term." However, he added that a major tax overhaul will be impossible before the parliamentary election in autumn.
