Gov't Delegation Arrives On Belarus Border For Talks On Ceasefire

In the last half hour a delegation of senior Ukrainian officials have landed on the Ukraine-Belarus border to meet with a Russian delegation for talks. Ukrainian side seeking a ceasefire and the withdrawal of Russian troops from its territory.

• Ukrainian delegation includes chair of President Zelensky's 'Servant of the People' party David Arakhamia, Minister of Defence Oleksiy Reznikov, and and head of Zelensky's office Mikhail Podolyak.
• There is little optimism of a ceasefire being agreed to by the two sides, although the stiff resistance of Ukrainian forces in recent days could eventually force the Russians into thinking about halting military operations given the immense economic cost of continuing the war.
• Comes as wires report that Zelensky is demanding 'immediate' Ukrainian membership of the EU. While EU has proved willing to help Ukraine, now with the provision of lethal weaponry as well, immediate accession to the group is not likely to be approved by the member states or EU leadership.
