ARGENTINA
  • Finance Secretary Pablo Quirno has said that the government has made its debt payments today, according to a post on X. The government was scheduled to make interest and principal payments for more than $4bn on euro- and dollar-denominated bonds issued under local and New York law.
  • Separately, President Milei has signed a decree to authorise his travels abroad until Congress passes the corresponding law when it returns from recess. Milei is due to attend the inauguration of President-elect Trump as well as the Davos Forum this month.
  • No macro data are due today, with December CPI inflation the next release of note on Jan 14. Following yesterday’s November IP and construction activity figures, which pointed to a new sequential expansion in Q4, Itaú says that they see upside risks to their -3.0% GDP growth forecast for 2024.
