Government Raises 2023 Primary Deficit Forecast

  • Brazil's Planning Ministry projected on Friday a primary budget deficit of 145.4 billion reais ($30.5 billion) for the central government this year, up from the previously estimated 136.2 billion reais, according to the government's latest bi-monthly revenue and expenditure report.
  • The primary deficit is expected to reach 1.4% of the gross domestic product (GDP), compared to the 1.3% shortfall calculated in the May report. - Reuters News
