Government Survives No-Confidence Vote, Another Presidential Debate Is Aired Online

  • Prime Minister Petr Fiala's government survived a no-confidence vote triggered by the opposition movement ANO last night, following two days of debate. The outcome was expected, given the coalition's majority in parliament, with Fiala dubbing the motion part of ANO leader Babis' presidential campaign. Babis did not attend the vote, despite his earlier pledge to the contrary.
  • Babis holds an election debate with his rival Petr Pavel as we type. The debate is broadcast by Blesk.cz news website.
  • Czechia's Labour Minister Marian Jurecka will hold a media briefing on the labour market outlook for 2023 at 13:30CET/12:30GMT.
