Government To Send Delegation To China In Coming Weeks

  • The government said yesterday that it will send a large delegation to China in the coming weeks, including the BCRA President Santiago Bausili, who may discuss the $18bn currency swap line the country has with the PBoC. Argentina needs to renew around $5bn from that line this year. Before then, Foreign Minister Diana Mondino is due visit China later this month.
  • Meanwhile, President Milei will speak at a business forum in Bariloche, in the country’s Patagonia region today. Yesterday, Finance Minister Caputo and BCRA President Bausili were in Washington for the IMF spring meetings, where they met Deputy Managing Director Gita Gopinath, as the government keeps open the option of requesting new funds from the IMF.
  • No macro data are due Friday, with the next releases of note being March budget balance data on Monday and February economic activity figures on Tuesday.
