US: Governor of Ohio Mike DeWine stated late on Monday evening US time that the
state's health department has ordered the shuttering of all polling stations,
meaning the Democratic primary in the state - offering 136 pledged delegates -
will not go ahead.
- Strangely, the decision comes as an Ohio county judge refused DeWine's request
to delay the primary until the summer. This prompted the Republican governor to
instruct the state's director of health to order the closure of polling
stations, resulting in the unprecedented situation of the primary officially
going ahead but there being no place for individuals to cast their ballots.
- The primaries in Florida (219 pledged delegates), Illinois (155 pledged
delegates), and Arizona (67 pledged delegates) are all due to go ahead.
- Former VP Joe Biden is the strong favourite to win a majority of delegates in
all three states and remains the frontrunner for the presidential nomination.
