Governor Remolona Flags Potential For Rate Hike In November

Speaking after the central bank left interest rates unchanged, BSP Governor Remolona says that policymakers may consider a rate hike in November, with Assistant Governor Sicat adding that September inflation remains above the target range.

  • Remolona notes that rate cuts this year are off the table and suggests that the extent of a potential rate hike in November will depend on incoming data. The Governor says that the key rate in 1H2024 may be at the same level as in late 2023.
