    • Chief Economist in the department of trade says research is being undertaken across a range of construction-related products where there is scope for localisation, with further announcements coming in due course.
    • Localisation will run alongside 6 master plans targeting poultry, sugar, automobiles, furniture, steel, metal fabrication, clothing, textiles and footwear
  • Political analyst says local general elections are likely to result in more municipal coalition governments than in recent years due to low voter turnout and political parties entering on weak footing.
    • Most notably in Nelson Mandela Bay, Tshwane and Joburg.
  • Steel & Engineering employer body to hold press conference today to reiterate its revised 6% offer to union Numsa is 'fair, equitable and sustainable.'
    • Comes after the offer was rejected yesterday with the union still calling for 8% in the first year & CPI +2% for the following two years -
