Gravenchon Refinery Operating Normally Despite Blockade

REFINING

Exxon Mobil said its Gravenchon oil refinery in northern France is operating normally, despite a blockade by protesters in recent days, according to Bloomberg.

  • Workers at the facility are striking after the company announced last month that it would shut down the steam cracker and close chemical production at Gravenchon this year.
  • A court has ruled that the blockade of the plant be lifted, according to Exxon.
  • “Our refinery continues to operate normally, and we have materials to keep things running for the next few days,” the company said.
  • The company previously said the blockade was making it difficult to get materials into the site and it may have to suspend production if strike actions continue.
