FOREX: Greenback edges higher as markets buy into Powell's message
-Following Fed Chair Powell's brief appearance overnight, the USD has risen
further, prompting the DXY to touch the best levels since mid-January and extend
the rally since the Fed meeting to over 1.5%, clearing the 50-dma in the
process. The USD move has pressed a number of pairs through key levels, with
EUR/USD taking out $1.1350, GBP/USD below $1.29 and AUD/USD below $0.71. Markets
look for further direction from weekly US jobless claims and speeches from Fed's
Clarida and Kaplan.
-In the UK, eyes turn to the Bank of England's 'Super Thursday', with BoE's
Carney due to present the full suite of economic forecasts alongside their rate
decision and BoE minutes. GBP sits slightly lower ahead of the release from
1200GMT.
-NZD is the worst performer in G10 following a sire set of employment numbers,
with the unemployment rate pausing its recent sharp decline.
-Outside of the BoE and US weekly jobless claims, US earnings season continues,
with Twitter, Philip Morris and S&P Global due to report.
