Greenback Slips In Early Asia-Pac Trade

The greenback is facing some headwinds, as U.S. e-mini futures have inched higher from the off. It sits at the bottom of the G10 pile, after Fed minutes released in NY hours offered nothing to shock.

  • The kiwi dollar is firmer at the margin, after a fresh round of comments from RBNZ Governor Orr largely echoed the tone of yesterday's Monetary Policy Statement, without providing notable fresh insights.
  • The BoK is set to raise the 7-Day Repo Rate by 25bp today amid continued upside surprises when it comes to inflationary readings and the strong focus of the new government on this issue.
  • U.S. GDP (second reading), pending home sales and weekly jobless claims as well as Canadian retail sales are due after Asia hours. Comments are due from Fed's Brainard as well as ECB's Centeno & de Cos.
