MNI BRIEF:Guangzhou Sees Grave Outbreak as Mass Testing Widens

China's southern city of Guangzhou, the capital of the country's biggest economy Guangdong, is widening the mass testing of its population while the health officials describe the current Covid outbreak as "very grave."

Guangzhou, with a population of 18 million, is the third of China's four top-tiered cities--also including Beijing, Shanghai, and Shenzhen--having had a major outbreak in the last two months. Some Guangzhou communities are already facing restrictions and residents must inform the community management when they need medical assistance, CCTV said. Guangzhou residents should limit outdoor exposure and gatherings and those entering public places must wear masks, CCTV said.
