GILT SUMMARY: Having traded firmer through the morning, gilt have sold off since
early afternoon.
- The Jun-20 gilt future trades at 138.0, 6 tick's off the day's low.
- Cash yields are 1-2bp higher and the curve marginally flatter. Current yield
levels: 2-year -0.031%, 5-year 0.056%, 10-year 0.210%, 30-year 0.592%.
- Short sterling futures are broadly 0.5-1.5 ticks higher in whites through
blues.
- The EU's Chief Brexit negotiator Michel Barnier indicated that he was not
optimistic on the prospects of trade discussions between the UK and EU. This
followed earlier headlines quoting an unnamed UK official that a Brexit
extension may not be accepted if it were offered by Brussels.
- It will be interesting week for data next week with April jobless claims and
CPI, followed by preliminary May PMI prints.
