Health Minister Takes First Moves to Remove COVID Restrictions

SOUTH AFRICA
  • Moneyweb reports that the Road and Freight Inter-Ministerial Committee have completed a plan in an attempt to deal with trucker association demands following the blockage of the major road routes earlier in the month. The Road Freight Association, however, said it would not agree to the plan as it proposes the introduction of operating licences.
  • The Zondo Commission’s final state capture report has been delayed further, with EWN reporting that the official handover will now take place on Wednesday this week.
  • The government are reportedly lifting the remaining COVID restrictions – including face masks – as case growth remains under control across a number of provinces. The health minister has asking local authorities for their views on repealing the restrictions, which also include limits on gatherings.
