US NATGAS: Hilcorp Seeking to Expand Cook Inlet Natgas Storage in Alaska: NGI

A subsidiary of Houston-based Hilcorp Energy has applied to operate a natural gas storage facility in the Cook Inlet Basin to shore up winter supply in southwestern Alaska, Natural Gas Intelligence said.

  • Hilcorp Alaska Gas Storage filed an application with the Regulatory Commission of Alaska to own and operate facilities in the Kenai Gas Field south of Kenai.
  • KGF has a storage capacity of 38 bcf and maximum deliverability of 130 mcf/d.
  • With regulatory approval, the capacity could be increased to 70 Bcf, the company said.
  • Added capacity and additional compressors could boost delivery up to 225 mcf/d.
