HONG KONG: HKD weakening in recent trade, with front-end forward points surging
higher (1m forward points surged to north of 40 points from 30 points prior) in
a somewhat belated reaction to local reports that China's NPC are to propose
national security laws for Hong Kong. Reports suggest that the law aims to plug
a national security loophole in Hong Kong with specific sanctions.
- USD/HKD edged to the best levels of the session at 7.7520 in response.
